Meet Dr. Ryan Cox

Ryan J. Cox, DMD, MS

Board Certified Orthodontist

"I feel truly blessed to live and work in such a wonderful community and am proud to offer excellence in orthodontics in a family friendly atmosphere.  I am inspired by the moment when our patients see their amazing new smile."  - Dr. Ryan J. Cox

Dr. Ryan Cox truly loves orthodontics. He knows that he has the opportunity, with each patient, to bring about a positive change in their lives, seeing their self-esteem grow and the confidence in their smiles emerge. Dr. Cox made the decision to become an orthodontist at the age of 13 and spent his high school and college years working for the orthodontist who straightened his own teeth. Dr. Cox became a Board Certified orthodontist directly out of residency, an honor that only 25% of all orthodontists ever achieve and it usually happens much later in their professional lives. Not only is he the only orthodontist in Rome to be Board Certified directly out of school, but he is the only Orthodontist to be accepted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental society reserved for the top 10% of dental students, be awarded with the Hinman Scholarship, and be given the top leadership award from the International College of Dentist.

Thriving on personal interaction, Dr. Cox is glad that his work allows him to interact with many people, getting to know them one-on-one, learning about their lives, their dreams, their adventures. As these relationships develop, stories and laughter are shared, creating friendships that extend beyond the orthodontic treatment chair.

Education and Continuing Education

Passionate about continuing education, Dr. Cox knows that only by furthering his knowledge and understanding of current orthodontic treatments, options, and techniques is he able to provide his patients with the best orthodontic care. He is a member of multiple study clubs, and he regularly attends orthodontic conferences and symposiums. Dr. Cox has also had the honor of offering continuing education to his fellow orthodontic and dental peers.

While conducting research in Ulm, Germany, the hometown of Albert Einstein, Dr. Cox helped to develop an MRI sequence capable of orthodontic imaging with the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Ulm. He published his research concerning the use of MRI in orthodontics in Orthodontic Practice US and the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, which is the most respected journal in the field of orthodontics. He is the only Orthodontist in Rome that is a published author in the orthodontic literature and featured on the cover of several AJO-DO publications. (Which can be read at the links below).
